Running businesses require owners to practice a certain level of responsibility to secure the sustainability of their operations. That’s why they keep planning various strategies to maintain their status quo.
Another reason that could help businesses thrive is through the growth of the people behind them. After all, a business is only as good as the minds of those who set things in motion.
Justin Winn Waller, the owner of a construction and real estate company that employs 90 people in over 10 states at a time, recognizes the importance of self-growth when it comes to business.
Throughout the years that he’s been running his company, he learned to adapt and improve according to the times and the environment, making his business a safe space for workers and consumers for years to come.
Working On His Growth
According to Justin, his motivation for becoming a better person comes from the person with the man he became and the man he could become.
“I feel like I have a special relationship with an older version of myself. I genuinely want to make that old man, myself one day, proud. I feel like it is the best way to seek approval because, in the end, it is self-love motivated by a standard only I and the later version of myself can set,” he said.
Justin goes as far as to talking to the older version of himself on video and through journaling. He checks with his future self to let him know what’s happening, what he’s thinking, and how he’s feeling.
He added that he looks forward to when he’s 90-years-old and in a rocking chair. By that time, he suspects that he will enjoy watching himself grow as he continues to face even bigger challenges, laughing at what he didn’t know, and being proud of the ambitions that he had to learn new things as a young man.
Building His Way To The Top
Justin was born in Monroe, Louisiana and grew up in a small town that couldn’t keep his big dreams caged. He knew he wasn’t the type of person who could be kept still. He spent his twenties building construction and real estate businesses by removing himself from the small-town mindset that surrounded him.
He spent most of his time alone with authors like Robert Kiyosaki, Patrick Lencioni, Robert E Gerber, and an array of others. He let the voices of these authors inspire him to achieve his goals in life.
Now aside from his business, Justin is the youngest board member of the MBCEA (Metal Building Contractors and Erectors Association).
